In a crowd of 2,000 Dutch workers, 540 cycled to work today. Not for exercise. Not as a lifestyle choice. Just because it was the fastest way there. The Netherlands built its cities around the bicycle — and the bicycle built its cities back. Now try switching this crowd with the American one. The difference is not a preference.
