South Koreans sleep an average of 6 hours and 36 minutes per night — second-worst in the OECD after Japan. Korean students routinely study past midnight in hagwons, and the sleep deficit follows them into adulthood. The country that coined "ppalli ppalli" (hurry hurry) has made exhaustion a cultural export.
